About the Company and Location

Join Qatar Fabrication Company located in Ras Laffan, Al Khor and Al Thakhira, Qatar. This role reports functionally to the Operation Engineering Manager and operationally to the Fabrication Operations Engineer. Preference will be given to Qatari nationals.

Responsibilities - Discipline Specific

  • Develop fabrication procedures specific to projects.
  • Initiate procurement of materials required for fabrication aids.
  • Start request for quotations (RFQ) processes for subcontracted work.
  • Examine drawings to ensure they are constructible.
  • Create assembly checklists covering all significant construction milestones.
  • Lead the review and confirmation of weld correction requests (WCR) and weld testing (WT) before lifting, loadout, and weighing operations.
  • Manage coordination activities related to loadout preparation and weighing.
  • Coordinate with marine and fabrication teams regarding installation aids, sea fastening, and offshore lift rigging.
  • Collaborate with the CSE department and the Marine Warranty Surveyor.
  • Publish deliverable lists from CSE with due dates and chair related coordination meetings.
  • Provide input on yard layout, stacking, and loadout scheduling.

Responsibilities - General

  • Comprehend complete contractual scope, contract type, and key milestones.
  • Contribute to the formulation of project-specific fabrication execution plans to meet contract demands efficiently.
  • Develop a work package index, establish priorities, and set required dates for deliverables.
  • Prepare detailed lists of project tasks.
  • Engage in project kickoff meetings at the start.
  • Forecast fabrication resource requirements to align with project schedules.
  • Coordinate issuance of work packs among material take-off (MTO), warehouse, and drafting teams.
  • Review and validate manhour estimates and provide feedback to estimation teams as necessary.
  • Monitor work pack issuance and ensure follow-through on execution activities.
  • Report regularly on project progress and productivity, addressing any deviations.
  • Handle documentation of scope changes and coordinate updates to approved for construction (AFC) estimates.
  • Evaluate input deliverable schedules (materials and drawings) and advise on impacts to fabrication timelines.
  • Notify Senior Production Engineer or Fabrication Operations Engineer of issues affecting progress, productivity, or scheduling.
  • Draft technical queries and correspondence for the client.
  • Provide on-site guidance to ensure compliance with project specs, schedules, and targets.
  • Participate in meetings to discuss site progress and planning.
  • Oversee subcontractor coordination to ensure timely completion.
  • Raise change orders for additional work beyond original estimates.
  • Identify needs for support from construction engineering and coordinate follow-up actions.
  • Compile lessons learned from project fabrication phases.

  • Adhere strictly to company policies.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering, or a related qualification.
  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in the offshore and petrochemical industries or equivalent fields.
  • Preference for candidates with experience working as project execution engineers in construction.
