Role Impact and Responsibilities

• Partner with product managers to refine strategies, define workflows, create prototypes, conduct user research, and launch innovative products and features.
• Lead design efforts across native apps and mobile web platforms from conception through launch.
• Perform user research and usability testing to identify pain points and enhance user experiences.
• Innovate beyond conventional design paradigms to envision creative product ideas.
• Collaborate with brand, content, and creative teams to ensure cohesive brand integration throughout the product.
• Work closely with engineering teams to implement polished and thoughtful user experiences.
• Contribute to continuous process improvements with the product design and UX research teams, pushing the quality and innovation standards higher.
• Deliver engaging and mission-driven user experiences that encourage a new generation to embrace secondhand shopping.

Candidate Requirements

• 3-5 years of experience designing digital products within cross-functional teams.
• A robust portfolio demonstrating craftsmanship and a user-focused, insight-driven design approach.
• Proficiency with wireframing, diagramming, and prototyping tools like Figma, as well as AI-assisted design tools such as Claude Code. Coding prototypes and shipping production code is a plus.
• Experience designing for multiple platforms (web, iOS, Android) with understanding of platform-specific technical constraints.
• Skills in conducting user testing, mixed methods research, and usability evaluations independently or with research teams.
• Strong communication and collaboration abilities across diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Data literacy to align design decisions with business objectives and measure impact through metrics.
• Self-driven with agility to prioritize and balance trade-offs in a dynamic environment, both autonomously and collaboratively.
• A growth mindset and humility, eager to learn and improve design craft through team engagement.
• Curiosity about emerging technologies such as AI for enhancing customer experience and optimizing workflows.
• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in design, psychology, computer science, or related disciplines.

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a base salary range between 160000 and 185000 USD annually, contingent upon experience, skills, and location. In addition to salary, employees may receive stock options through restricted stock units and have access to an employee stock purchase plan. Work Environment and Culture

This position is hybrid with three days onsite in Oakland, CA, and one remote day weekly. ThredUp promotes a 4-day workweek with Fridays off.
