Role overview
This is an on-site procurement position supporting Strike’s Gulf Coast Region from either the Spring, TX or Baytown, TX office. In this role, you will help manage the end-to-end purchasing process for goods and services, from requisition creation through purchase order handling and supplier coordination.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with the company’s purchasing requirements, including bid support, purchase order issuance, and tracking open commitments.
- Create, prepare, and process requisitions and purchase orders for goods and services.
- Coordinate supplier paperwork and related records such as purchase orders, change orders, and other procurement documents.
- Help manage supplier qualification needs, including contract, safety, insurance, and pricing requirements.
- Organize supplier documents for proper storage, retrieval, and retention in electronic systems and data formats.
- Compile reports related to cost savings and cost avoidance.
- Participate in recurring supplier meetings and provide account overviews as needed.
Experience and education
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant procurement experience is required.
- Background in construction, energy services, or project management is preferred.
- A bachelor’s degree or higher is strongly preferred.
- Procurement certification from an accredited institution is strongly preferred.
Skills and competencies
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to handle several tasks at once while staying organized.
- Sound judgment and the ability to approach complex issues proactively.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Capacity to work well under pressure and remain flexible and cooperative.
- High attention to detail and a focus on accuracy and timeliness.
- Strong problem-solving ability and professional conduct.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality around customer and company records.
- Positive, team-oriented approach when working with employees, managers, and customers.
Physical requirements
This role involves regular sitting, speaking, and hearing, along with frequent reaching, standing, walking, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Some travel is expected. The position may occasionally require lifting or moving items up to 20 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, as well as the ability to adjust focus.
