The firm manages private equity funds across Northwestern Europe and North America and has spent more than two decades partnering with management teams to drive profitable expansion and strengthen software companies for the long term.
The organization oversees about $14 billion in assets and has completed over 300 software investments. Its team of more than 100 professionals works across North America and Europe, with offices in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the Nordics, France, the UK, and Boston as the North American base.
As the firm expands its presence in North America, it is looking for people who can help deliver investment outcomes while contributing to the growth of the US platform.
Role Overview
The Private Equity Analyst will be involved across the full investment process, including sourcing opportunities, assessing targets, executing transactions, and supporting portfolio companies. This role offers close collaboration with experienced investment professionals and broad exposure to private equity work in the software sector.
Responsibilities
- Assess potential investments and help move selected opportunities through execution.
- Build financial models and perform valuation and returns analysis for prospective targets.
- Carry out financial and operational due diligence.
- Draft investment memoranda and other transaction materials.
- Support portfolio businesses with KPI monitoring, M&A strategy work, and value creation initiatives.
- Research markets and industry trends to inform investment decisions.
- Help source and identify new investment opportunities.
Requirements
- Candidates should bring a strong analytical approach, an entrepreneurial mindset, and clear interest in software investing.
- Must be based in the Boston area or willing to relocate, with a requirement to work onsite 5 days per week.
- A strong academic record in finance, business, economics, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- 1 to 3 years of mid-market or lower mid-market investment banking experience, or equivalent transaction advisory exposure, is required.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills are necessary.
- Advanced financial skills are needed, including analysis, modeling, budgeting, and forecasting; a modeling test will be part of the process.
- Applicants should demonstrate strong analytical thinking.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team are important.
- A self-starter attitude and enthusiasm for helping grow Main’s US presence alongside senior leaders are expected.
