Role Overview
The Brand & Creative team is seeking a detail-oriented Principal Visual Designer to define and shape the visual identity of LegalZoom across numerous customer touchpoints. This senior individual contributor role emphasizes hands-on design craftsmanship, influencing the overall creative direction through collaboration and vision rather than people management.
The role requires partnering with multiple teams including Brand, Marketing, Product, Content, and Engineering to create compelling visual experiences that resonate with customers and uphold the quality of the brand.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead visual design direction for significant marketing initiatives encompassing brand identity, integrated campaigns, web, presentations, editorial content, and diverse graphic assets.
- Craft outstanding marketing web experiences that blend storytelling, usability, accessibility, and business objectives.
- Enhance and evolve LegalZoom's visual language maintaining brand consistency while innovating design standards.
- Create scalable visual systems, templates, and design patterns to boost efficiency and quality across teams.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams and external agencies to bring cohesive experiences to fruition.
- Convert business goals, customer insights, and brand strategies into impactful visual designs.
- Promote high design standards through critiques, mentorship, and constructive feedback to elevate team performance.
- Incorporate emerging technologies, AI-driven creative methods, and the latest digital design trends to improve workflows and output.
- Confidently present and articulate design concepts and rationale to leadership and stakeholders to influence decisions.
- Own complex, ambiguous design projects end-to-end, ensuring outstanding craftsmanship and detail orientation.
Qualifications and Experience
- 8 to 10+ years of experience delivering exceptional visual designs for digital products, consumer brands, or tech companies.
- A portfolio showcasing superior work across marketing websites, brand design, visual systems, campaigns, and customer experience projects.
- Strong skills in typography, layout, composition, color theory, and visual narrative with keen attention to detail.
- Expertise in designing responsive web experiences with knowledge of web technologies, accessibility standards, and performance.
- Proficiency in Figma and collaborative modern design workflows.
- Experience with scalable design systems and visual frameworks.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively influence varied stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, leadership through influence, and a commitment to raising creative quality standards.
- A passion for innovation and continuous improvement of the creative process and output.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary for this position ranges from $171,000 to $190,000 annually, influenced by location, skills, experience, education, and other factors. Additional compensation may include bonuses and restricted stock units.
