Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Facilitate standardization of equipment specs, drawings, and document templates to ensure consistency.
- Apply technical knowledge, legal stipulations, and customer-specific requirements where feasible and lawful.
- Utilize both local and global standards to uphold technical excellence.
- Identify essential software tools critical for the effective operation of the piping group.
- Offer technical expertise, supervision, and advice within the discipline and project teams.
- Participate actively in peer reviews ensuring quality and compliance.
- Guarantee adherence to best engineering practices for piping design and plant layout applicable for onshore and offshore projects.
- Understand project scope, budget, and scheduling to ensure fulfillment of expectations and collaborate with other disciplines for project success.
- Support project change management and progress, coordinating with project management to address any issues affecting staffing, scope, schedule, or profitability.
- Plan and monitor the quality control activities of the discipline; promote squad checking and recommend and implement enhancements where necessary.
- Engage with project teams to review documentation including proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and timelines.
- Lead weekly piping project meetings, review progress, and supervise required quality checks.
- Analyze technical challenges, propose alternative solutions evaluating benefits and drawbacks, and document recommendations through official channels such as technical queries and deviation reports.
- Define discipline deliverables and manage them according to agreed schedules.
- Lead the detailed design processes, including generating drawings, specifications, data, calculations, and technical reports.
Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Expectations
- Maintain a consistent focus on health, safety, and environmental requirements within the team.
- Exemplify behaviors aligned with a culture of best practices in health, safety, and environmental performance.
- Demonstrate active commitment to personal well-being and safe workplace practices.
Industry Experience and Expertise
- Significant senior-level experience in piping engineering within the Oil & Gas sector encompassing onshore and offshore projects.
- Proven leadership in design and engineering teams, specifically managing piping discipline engineers and designers.
- Deep technical and practical knowledge in piping, including leadership of multidisciplinary projects.
- Specialized expertise in stress analysis under unbalanced and transient conditions, complex hot-tapping and plugging of C3/C4 services, and familiarity with Inconel 625 material specifications and datasheets.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Mandatory MME (Ministry of Municipality and Environment) engineering accreditation or willingness to obtain it during probationary period.
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) certification or progress toward it is advantageous.
