Role Overview
The Pricing & Margin Governance Specialist will reinforce pricing discipline and enhance commercial profitability by ensuring pricing decisions align with company objectives. This role centers on evaluating prices, costs, discounts, and commercial terms to approve quotations and customer agreements effectively. It is distinct from general finance or sales roles, focusing solely on pricing governance and profitability control.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and update pricing models tailored to products, customers, and markets.
- Analyze gross margins, contribution margins, and transaction-level profitability.
- Evaluate proposed pricing, discounts, and commercial terms before approval.
- Support the quotation approval process through detailed financial analyses.
- Set pricing floors and margin thresholds to maintain profitability standards.
- Assess impacts of supplier costs, freight, customs duties, insurance, and currency exchange rates on pricing.
- Monitor and report price variations across customers, geographies, and product groups.
- Identify and flag transactions with inadequate or negative margins.
- Review customer-specific rebates, commissions, bonuses, and payment terms for potential margin impact.
- Conduct profitability simulations to inform major commercial negotiations.
- Assist in periodic and annual price review cycles.
- Maintain organized records of approved prices and exceptions.
- Develop dashboards and reports to communicate pricing data to management.
- Analyze the effect of minimum order quantities and shipment sizes on profitability.
- Support strategic decisions on price adjustments and cost pass-throughs.
- Review post-transaction margin performance for continuous improvement.
- Detect pricing inconsistencies and suggest corrective measures.
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Sales, Procurement, Finance, Logistics, and Management teams.
- Implement pricing policies for distributors, agents, and strategic accounts.
- Enhance internal quotation and pricing-approval processes.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
- 3 to 6 years of professional experience in pricing, commercial finance, profitability analysis, revenue management, or financial planning.
- Robust knowledge of cost structures, margins, and commercial terms.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience constructing pricing models and management reporting tools.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to present financial insights clearly to non-financial team members.
- Sound commercial judgement and disciplined decision-making.
Preferred Experience
- Background in international trading, B2B distribution, food and beverage ingredients, pharmaceuticals, nutraceuticals, specialty chemicals, FMCG, manufacturing, or import/export operations.
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, ERP systems, CRM platforms, or pricing software.
- Experience managing multi-currency transactions, international freight costs, and Incoterms.
- Arabic language skills are beneficial but not required.
