About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Policy Advisor to join the Policy Business Unit within the Strategy, Policy and Regulation team at Rōpū Taiao. This permanent position is based in Wellington. The role focuses on crafting strategic environmental policy advice, fostering collaboration with technical and operational teams, and driving impactful environmental outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Developing innovative and authoritative environmental policy across diverse topics.
- Supporting the transition from strategic policy to practical implementation by working closely with internal teams, partners, and stakeholders to deliver tangible environmental improvements.
- Enhancing outcomes for mana whenua and Māori in policy processes.
- Promoting greater integration among strategy development, policy formulation, planning, and delivery activities.
Skills and Experience Required
- Strong knowledge of resource management frameworks, relevant legislation, and local government planning procedures.
- Curiosity and adaptability to navigate ambiguous and evolving environments.
- Understanding of tikanga and te ao Māori or a strong willingness to learn these perspectives.
- Excellent written communication capabilities tailored to varied audiences.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including flexibility, active listening, influencing, and facilitation.
