Overview
We are partnering with a leading UK bank to hire a Payments Application Support Engineer. This critical role involves supporting the Payment Hub application responsible for processing millions of daily transactions. The position is based onsite at the Knutsford campus and focuses on ensuring secure, reliable, and continuous payment operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver advanced technical support to resolve complex issues impacting payment applications and infrastructure for a defined group of clients.
- Perform preventive maintenance on hardware and software, using monitoring tools to detect and resolve potential problems before they affect operations.
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of resolved incidents to foster knowledge sharing and enable self-service support.
- Analyze system logs, error messages, and user feedback to diagnose root causes, resolving issues through hardware fixes, software reinstallation, or configuration adjustments.
- Enhance automation and monitoring processes, manage capacity, uphold business continuity, and handle stakeholder communication.
- Identify, manage, or escalate risks and issues threatening service quality promptly.
- Continually optimize monitoring tools and alert thresholds to improve early detection and operational stability.
- Lead or contribute technically within the team, supporting professional development and allocating workload effectively.
- Embed new policies and procedures related to risk mitigation; advise and influence decisions in your domain.
- Build strong partnerships with other functions and external stakeholders to support operational goals.
- Uphold organizational values including Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, and Stewardship as well as mindset principles like Empower, Challenge, and Drive.
Required Technical Skills
- Basic scripting knowledge in UNIX environments.
- Competency in Oracle SQL for querying and database support.
- Experience working with monitoring platforms such as AppDynamics or ITRS.
Desired Additional Skills
- Familiarity with Kafka event streaming technology.
- Understanding of OpenShift container orchestration.
- Experience using Kibana for log analysis and visualization.
