Role and Key Responsibilities

The Outreach Support Worker role is varied and may involve tasks such as hospital bed watching, secure transport escort, or assisting children and young people within their homes. The position requires flexibility as you might be called on at short notice to support children in urgent need. Comprehensive training and development are provided to help you implement the organization's therapeutic care model effectively. Safeguarding and welfare promotion of children and young people remain a core responsibility of all staff.

Candidate Profile

• Experience working with children and young people exhibiting challenging behaviors, including those with mental health and behavioral difficulties.
• Availability to work weekdays, evenings, weekends, and nights.
• Ability to collaborate with passionate colleagues to inspire and motivate young people.
• Compassionate, calm, and resilient approach towards children facing emotional, behavioral, or mental health challenges.
• Strong communication skills are essential to maintain prolonged engagement with service users.
• Proficient written and verbal skills to handle paperwork, liaise with local authorities, maintain records, and prepare reports.
• Competence in problem-solving, de-escalating conflicts, and diverting attention effectively.

Essential Requirements

• Possession of a full UK driving license.
• Successful completion of Crisis Prevention Institute training, covering trauma understanding, de-escalation strategies, communication skills, and safety interventions including restrictive holds. Physical capability to perform potentially demanding safety interventions is required due to the nature of children's trauma.

Compensation and Shift Details

• Starting salary of £13.50 per hour on weekdays.
• Weekend hourly wage of £15.56.
• An additional £60 compensation for sleep shifts.
