Role Overview
We are seeking Software Engineers passionate about the convergence of cloud computing, DevOps, and distributed systems. As a key participant in the Apache CloudStack ecosystem, you will engage deeply in feature design and development, contributing both to customer-driven demands and our ongoing roadmap. This role requires collaboration within ShapeBlue’s distributed global engineering team and close interaction with the Apache open-source community through communication channels and occasional in-person meetings.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop new features for the Apache CloudStack IaaS platform based on customer requirements and strategic initiatives.
- Integrate third-party vendor solutions within the CloudStack ecosystem.
- Provide operational support for customer CloudStack environments in production.
- Engage actively with the open-source community, contributing code and ideas.
Requirements
- Proven Java development expertise with multiple years focusing on complex distributed systems emphasizing networking and multi-threading.
- Familiarity with JVM tuning for production workloads, Spring framework, and Maven build tools is highly advantageous.
- Strong proficiency with Linux operating systems, specifically RHEL/CentOS or Ubuntu variants.
- Practical experience using or developing IaaS orchestration platforms such as CloudStack, OpenStack, or Eucalyptus.
- Knowledge of virtualization technologies like ESXi, KVM, or Xen; familiarity with LibVirt APIs is a plus.
- Skilled in Python for automating systems and writing test scripts.
- Experience with frontend technologies including HTML5, CSS, XML, JSON, JavaScript, and AJAX.
- Understanding of configuration management systems such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef, along with MySQL database development skills.
- Desirable expertise in networking and storage infrastructure automation.
- Awareness of container orchestration platforms, notably Kubernetes.
- Excellent communication skills in English and aptitude for teamwork.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related disciplines.
