Role Overview
Join Rio Tinto's Emergency Services team at our Robe Valley Operations in Pannawonica, Western Australia. As an Emergency Services Officer, you will play a key role in delivering emergency response and medical support on site, contributing to safety and well-being. This is a residential role with a roster pattern of 4 days on/3 nights on, followed by 7 days off, then 4 days on/4 nights on, and 6 days off.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical treatment and respond promptly to medical emergencies, incidents, and maydays.
- Manage medical transfers, including hospital and Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) coordination.
- Prepare and maintain emergency response equipment, conduct equipment and fleet checks, and participate in emergency response planning and testing.
- Perform communication and alarm system tests including mayday checks.
- Recruit, train, induct, equip, onboard, and mentor Emergency Response Team members.
- Support fit testing activities in conjunction with the Occupational Health team.
- Oversee fire warden duties, evacuation drills, and related preparation activities.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance).
- Certificate III in Mine Emergency Response and Rescue or equivalent competencies.
- Qualification in Alcohol and Other Drugs Collection.
- Successful Emergency Services Skills Assessment (ESSA) with at least satisfactory performance in all areas.
- Commencement of Emergency Response Certification (ERC).
- Demonstrated leadership experience in emergency services contexts.
- Possession of a National MR class Driver’s License.
- Strong computer literacy and adeptness with technology platforms.
- Prior responsibility managing emergency services resources across prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery phases.
- Experience in Incident Command and Business Resilience; familiarity with Rio Tinto Emergency Services (ES) systems including GAP Portal and dashboard platforms is advantageous.
