Role overview
Barfoots is expanding, and this is a strong opportunity to join the business at a time of continued development. The position sits within a food production environment and focuses on maintaining very high hygiene standards across machinery, plant, facilities, and production spaces.
The role covers thorough cleaning of walls, floors, fixtures, drains, equipment, and associated production areas. You will be an important part of the hygiene team, helping ensure that all machinery, fittings, and buildings consistently meet strict cleanliness expectations.
Please note that the work takes place in a temperature-controlled environment kept at 3 to 5ºC. The role also involves extended periods of standing and may occasionally require heavy lifting.
Working pattern
There are current vacancies on the night shift, running from 6pm to 6am. The shift pattern is 4 days on followed by 4 days off, with 12-hour shifts.
Responsibilities
- Carry out intensive cleaning across production areas and the equipment used in them.
- Keep cleaning logs and records accurate and up to date at all times.
- Help maintain a workplace that remains safe and compliant.
- Make sure hygiene tools are kept clean, suitable for use, and stored in a hygienic way.
- Store cleaning chemicals correctly and safely.
- Report hygiene issues, food safety concerns, or incidents without delay.
- Follow COSHH requirements, health and safety rules, and company procedures.
- Support other members of the hygiene team whenever needed.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement in hygiene standards and working methods.
Requirements
- Previous experience in cleaning or hygiene work is required.
- Strong communication skills are important.
- You should be able to work well as part of a team.
- Knowledge of the fresh food sector would be an advantage.
- CIEH Food Safety Level 2 would be desirable.
