Role Overview
The position is for a Multispeciality Denial Coder with 1 to 4+ years of professional experience, focusing on specialties such as Neurology, Nephrology, ENT, and Primary Care.
Key Responsibilities
- Review coded CPTs, ICD codes, and modifiers without referring to medical records to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Verify that CPTs, HCPCS Level II codes (including drug codes), ICD codes, and modifiers are valid, correctly mapped, and not truncated or deleted.
- Crosswalk CPT codes accurately to corresponding ICD codes and apply appropriate modifiers.
Requirements
- Minimum two years' involvement with coding in Neurology, Nephrology, ENT, and Primary Care specialties.
- Strong understanding of CPT codes applicable to the given specialties.
- Proficient with ICD-10-CM conventions and chapter guidelines.
- Knowledgeable in HCPCS Level II codes and National Drug Codes (NDC) particularly for medications and contrast supplies.
- Familiarity with proper use of coding modifiers.
- Educational background: Life Sciences graduate preferred, including nursing, pharmacy, or physiotherapy; certification is not mandatory.
