Role Overview
The Mechanical Engineer in Maintenance & Inline Quality Control is responsible for maximizing machinery uptime through planned preventive and corrective maintenance while upholding rigorous quality standards on the production line to prevent defects from occurring.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive and breakdown maintenance for plant machinery, including hydraulic and pneumatic systems, gears, and drive units to ensure operational reliability.
- Optimize equipment uptime by reducing mean time to repair (MTTR) and increasing mean time between failures (MTBF).
- Manage and maintain inventory of critical spare parts to avoid operational disruptions.
- Ensure all maintenance work complies with industrial safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and machine guarding regulations.
- Carry out inline production quality control through first-off inspections, regular in-process checks, and final quality clearances.
- Use precision metrology tools such as vernier calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, height gauges, and CMM machines to confirm adherence to engineering dimensions.
- Analyze and resolve root causes of repeating dimensional and surface defects through corrective measures.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech).
- Experience ranging from 1 to 4 years in mechanical maintenance and quality control or equivalent hands-on roles.
Additional Information
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager or Operations Head and is based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India.
The salary ranges from 17,000 to 25,000 Indian Rupees per month.
