Role Summary
We are looking for a seasoned Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the mechanical design efforts on a major road infrastructure project based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical competence and leadership to ensure successful design and delivery of mechanical systems.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is mandatory.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of progressive mechanical design experience in large infrastructure projects such as transportation, highways, and urban developments.
- Expertise in designing water networks, sewerage, stormwater drainage, irrigation, firefighting systems, and pumping stations.
- Thorough understanding of international design standards and codes (NFPA, AWWA, ASHRAE, ASME) alongside compliance with Saudi regulations.
- Proficiency in hydraulic design software including WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or equivalents.
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary designs within BIM frameworks.
- Capability in design review, preparation of technical documentation, and ensuring adherence to project delivery standards.
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
- Previous work on projects in the Middle East and specifically Saudi Arabia is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical system design and coordination for large scale road and infrastructure projects.
- Create, assess, and verify engineering designs, calculations, technical specifications, Bills of Quantities, and construction drawings.
- Design and coordinate systems for potable water, irrigation, stormwater drainage, sewerage, firefighting, and pumping stations.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, global design standards, Saudi regulations, and client requirements.
- Conduct hydraulic calculations and determine proper sizing for pipelines, pumps, storage tanks, and related infrastructure.
- Collaborate across civil, structural, electrical, and roadway disciplines to integrate utility designs.
- Review and approve technical submissions including shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals.
- Contribute to value engineering exercises aimed at cost efficiency, improved constructability, and operational performance.
- Provide engineering support during the phases of construction, testing, commissioning, and handover.
- Engage in meetings with clients, consultants, authorities, and other project stakeholders.
- Oversee BIM coordination tasks and ensure clash detection aligns with project standards.
