About CAI
Founded in 1996, CAI has expanded into a global organization of more than 750 employees. The company delivers commissioning, qualification, validation, start-up, project management, and consulting support focused on operational readiness for FDA-regulated and other high-criticality industries.
CAI’s way of working is centered on putting the client’s needs first, persisting until the outcome is correct, and doing what it takes to deliver. The organization is guided by foundational principles of integrity, mutual support, service to society, and building a strong future. Team success, respect, and a can-do mindset are core to the culture.
Role Overview
The Mechanical Commissioning Engineer is responsible for directing all mechanical aspects of assigned commissioning projects from early engagement through client handover. The position requires driving the project schedule, coordinating contractors and vendors, and ensuring that mechanical system testing is completed safely and in line with project expectations.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead mechanical commissioning and testing activities for contracted work at the client site, ensuring delivery aligns with the agreed scope of work. You will serve as a technical advisor, evaluating feasibility, practicality, cost implications, resource needs, and execution methods throughout the commissioning lifecycle.
You will act as the site-based technical lead, gathering and validating information from vendors, clients, contractors, and site owners to support decision-making. The role also involves participating in project meetings, contributing expert technical guidance, and aligning stakeholders on commissioning deliverables and boundaries.
You will ensure that all required certifications and supporting documentation from contractors and vendors are received and suitable for commissioning records. In addition, you will review design and installation documents such as BoD, OPR, mechanical drawings, schematics, diagrams, and installation drawings, and approve materials that meet client commissioning standards.
The position includes supporting development of engineering and commissioning deliverables, creating and reviewing test scripts and Inspection Test Plans, and initiating or reviewing Factory Acceptance Tests or Factory Witness Tests as required by the client.
You will maintain delivery quality so that testing outcomes meet the client’s performance expectations, manage progress against the commissioning schedule, provide regular status updates, and produce technical reports on project status.
Another important part of the role is identifying project risks, opportunities, challenges, and scope changes, then clearly communicating these to the Project Manager and Client Manager. You will also work with the Project Manager to assess the impact of scope variations on budget, resources, and timelines, and help develop mitigation or contingency actions.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree or have equivalent practical experience. Strong knowledge of OSHA or comparable safety standards is required, along with the ability to communicate clearly in both written and spoken form.
You should be able to read and interpret mechanical P&IDs and understand mission-critical design concepts. Applicants must also be Singapore citizens or Permanent Residents.
Working Environment
This is an onsite role in Singapore with extensive travel, estimated at 75%. The work environment is within a construction setting.
