Maternity Support Worker - Community Midwifery

Overview

This role involves being an integral part of a multidisciplinary team to support midwives and other agencies in delivering community care to pregnant individuals and their families. The post holder works alongside midwives to assess, implement, and evaluate care programs under supervision, following established policies and standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver care respecting privacy, dignity, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds while maintaining strict confidentiality.
• Engage in health promotion initiatives.
• Assist midwives in providing comprehensive parent education tailored to the needs of birthing individuals and their partners to foster their active involvement in health and well-being.
• Carry out relevant observations and collect various samples with accurate labelling.
• Help implement care plans with families and maintain clear, timely, and precise documentation within electronic maternity records, reporting any changes to midwives promptly.
• Respond effectively in emergencies, supporting midwives in obstetric and neonatal crises and understanding procedures to summon help.
• Work alongside administrative staff to handle clerical duties such as booking appointments, data entry, and maintaining notice boards.
