Overview
We are seeking a Maintenance Lead Engineer specializing in Electrical systems to oversee comprehensive maintenance activities and ensure operational excellence at our facility in Ash Shimasiyah, Al Qasim, Saudi Arabia. The role involves strategic leadership, technical expertise, and project management to support continuous plant operations and reliability in power generation.
Key Responsibilities
- Create and implement preventive and corrective maintenance plans for electrical assets such as generators, transformers, switchgear, UPS systems, motors, and related equipment.
- Schedule maintenance tasks efficiently to minimize impact on production.
- Guarantee availability of the required tools and secure necessary third-party certifications.
- Lead and mentor a team of electrical maintenance engineers and technicians, fostering collaboration, safety, and ongoing professional development.
- Assess team performance and facilitate targeted training to enhance capabilities.
- Provide expert technical guidance for diagnosing and resolving electrical problems; carry out root cause analyses to prevent recurrence.
- Plan and supervise electrical maintenance projects and upgrades, ensuring safety compliance and operational alignment.
- Work with various departments, including mechanical, operations, and engineering, to coordinate smooth maintenance operations.
- Support budget preparation and resource management for electrical maintenance, tracking expenditures and identifying cost efficiencies without sacrificing safety and reliability.
- Manage procurement and inventory of spare parts and consumables, prepare purchase requisitions, and evaluate vendor quotations to select the best options technically.
- Maintain adherence to industry standards, environmental guidelines, and company policies through regular safety audits, training sessions, and risk assessments.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with corporate and site-specific procedures and work instructions.
- Keep thorough documentation of maintenance work, inspections, inventory status, and performance indicators; generate reports for management review.
- Develop, apply, and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track maintenance effectiveness.
- Drive continuous improvement by adopting industry best practices and innovative solutions to boost electrical maintenance and plant efficiency.
- Fulfill pre-commissioning roles by supporting design reviews and assisting the owner during installation, commissioning, testing, and trial operations.
- Review and finalize O&M manuals and initial spare parts lists; develop master equipment lists and implement computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Identify spare parts and maintenance strategies based on equipment criticality analyses; prepare site-specific maintenance procedures and authorize maintenance team as permit receivers.
- Ensure timely subcontract placements and readiness of staff, systems, and processes for operational periods.
- Confirm that plant design, construction, commissioning, and testing meet contract and project agreement requirements to ensure fitness for purpose upon takeover.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant discipline.
- At least 10 years of experience in electrical maintenance within power generation facilities, ideally with combined cycle power plants.
- Proven leadership and team management skills to effectively motivate and supervise a diverse team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, power distribution networks, and protective devices.
- Familiarity with maintenance management software (such as CMMS) and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Additional Responsibilities
- Oversee team activities to ensure alignment with business goals and adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Supervise electrical preventive and corrective maintenance and overhauls to maintain equipment reliability.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns to minimize downtime and financial impact.
- Promote a condition-based preventive maintenance approach through troubleshooting and root cause analysis to lessen reactive repairs.
