Role Overview
The Senior Instructional Designer leads the design, integration, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise-wide training programs that boost technical workforce skills and operational preparedness. This position delivers learning solutions that are performance-focused, scalable, and aligned with actual job demands, safety standards, and business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complete curriculum development including job task analysis, competency mapping, creating, implementing, and refining training programs.
- Create integrated learning approaches combining instructor-led, digital, simulation, lab, and field-based training.
- Apply adult learning principles and competency-based design to produce measurable improvements in job performance and safety.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and operations leaders to transform technical information into scalable educational materials.
- Utilize technical training facilities, simulators, and hands-on environments to foster authentic skill acquisition.
- Develop and implement evaluation strategies to assess training effectiveness and inform continuous enhancements.
- Ensure instructional quality, rigor, and compliance with operational, regulatory, and corporate requirements.
- Provide leadership and mentoring to instructional designers and training developers.
Qualifications and Skills
- At least 3 years of instructional design experience with strong knowledge of adult learning theories, instructional design models such as ADDIE, and curriculum development processes.
- At least 3 years of technical writing experience, able to simplify complex technical concepts into clear educational content.
- Strong project management capabilities to handle multiple projects efficiently, meet deadlines, and uphold quality standards.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Preferred: Ability to evaluate training needs and outcomes and suggest improvements.
- Preferred: Excellent verbal and written communication skills tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
