About the Role
This opportunity is to lead the design vision for a cutting-edge platform tailored for highly technical users in cloud, infrastructure, and developer spaces. As Lead Product Designer based in Germany, you will oversee the entire product design function, crafting intuitive experiences for intricate workflows while shaping product strategy from the ground up. Collaborating closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams, you will convert ambitious concepts into scalable, user-centered designs. The position offers extensive autonomy to define design systems, foster collaborative workflows, and incorporate AI-driven tools into the design process.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the product design vision aligning user experience with business goals and strategies.
- Lead the comprehensive design lifecycle for new features, including research, discovery, information architecture, wireframing, prototyping, UI design, and iterative refinement.
- Create user experiences catering to sophisticated technical areas such as platform engineering, infrastructure automation, permissions, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Work closely with product managers, engineers, and technical experts to validate design solutions and influence product direction.
- Develop and sustain a scalable design system ensuring consistency, usability, and future expansion.
- Implement AI-powered workflows to enhance design efficiency, documentation, prototyping, and team collaboration.
- Partner with frontend developers to guarantee high-quality design implementation, offering practical usability and interaction guidance.
- Effectively communicate design decisions, priorities, and progress to leadership and stakeholders.
Candidate Profile
- Over 10 years of experience in product design including senior or leadership roles focused on complex digital products.
- Proven track record designing technical platforms like developer tools, SaaS, cloud services, DevOps, or infrastructure software.
- Experience setting up and expanding design practices in startups or high-growth environments.
- Expertise in UX architecture, interaction, visual design, and design systems, supported by a portfolio demonstrating systems thinking and problem solving.
- Strong familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript) to collaborate effectively on implementation.
- Ability to influence product strategy working closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable explaining design decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Pragmatic and focused on simplicity, usability, and scalable design solutions.
- Fluent in English; French language proficiency is a plus.
- Experience with developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, DevOps ecosystems, or Internal Developer Platforms (IDPs) is highly desirable.
