Role Overview

The Lead Procurement Specialist will spearhead procurement efforts centered on primary and secondary packaging supplies within the Formulations team. This pivotal role entails serving as an expert advisor on procurement strategies, spearheading supplier onboarding initiatives, managing ongoing supplier relationships, and ensuring operational excellence through every phase—from sourcing planning and council preparation to project completion.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement sourcing strategies specific to primary and secondary packaging.
• Facilitate supplier onboarding and selection processes, including Request for Proposal (RFP) stages, ensuring pricing accuracy, compliance with regulatory standards, and alignment with organizational requirements.
• Manage operational delivery aspects like On Time In Full (OTIF) performance, Scope of Work (SOW) for tooling and line trials, and managing sampling replenishment cycles.
• Handle Capital Expenditure (Capex) requests, purchase orders for tooling and assets, and oversee associated procurement procedures.
• Lead supplier relationship management activities including weekly meetings and operational oversight.
• Coordinate project communications to guarantee timely and transparent updates to Project Managers regarding packaging schedules from RFP through delivery.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives and continuous supplier improvement programs.
• Manage tender processes related to packaging changes and enhance supplier relationship management (SRM) protocols.
• Track and resolve supplier onboarding challenges via procurement platforms such as Ariba in collaboration with internal teams.

Required Skills and Experience

• Demonstrated expertise in procurement, preferably within packaging for FMCG, formulation, or technology-driven manufacturing sectors.
• Strong familiarity with sourcing procedures, supplier management, Scope of Work administration, tooling, and Capex processes.
• Proven capabilities in project management, able to lead multifunctional teams and meet OTIF and cost-saving objectives.
• Solid commercial orientation with proficient negotiation skills and experience in value engineering.
• Technical proficiency with procurement and supplier management systems, including Ariba.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, able to influence at multiple organizational levels.
• Proactive leadership style focused on continuous process improvement, operational excellence, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
