About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Lagger to join Austal Defence Australia, specializing in installation of thermal insulation, fire protection systems, and lagging solutions for defense vessel construction projects. As a valued member of the Production Fitout team, you will contribute to delivering high-quality workmanship while adhering to safety and efficiency standards on site in Henderson, Western Australia.

Responsibilities

  • Install thermal insulation and structural fire protection systems on defense vessels.
  • Conduct lagging tasks following quality and classification standards.
  • Operate and maintain trade-specific hand and power tools safely.
  • Ensure workplace cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
  • Engage in continuous improvement efforts and minimize waste.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to achieve project timelines and production goals.
  • Adhere strictly to company policies, work instructions, and health, safety, environment, and quality regulations.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Prior experience in lagging, insulation installation, structural fire protection, or related trades.
  • Knowledge of thermal insulation and fire protection installation techniques.
  • Ability to meet quality standards and regulatory class requirements in work output.
  • Competence in using trade tools safely and efficiently.
  • Strong dedication to safety practices, housekeeping, and quality control.
  • Team player adaptable to various production tasks.
  • Desirable: Effective communication, time management, and organizational abilities.
  • Desirable: Experience in marine insulation or shipbuilding and/or possession of high-risk work licenses such as forklift and elevated work platform.
