About the Role

Join Scotiabank's dynamic and results-driven team in Toronto, focused on innovative payment technologies. We are seeking a Junior Full Stack Developer passionate about full lifecycle software development, eager to grow, and ready to collaborate in building modern banking applications.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain responsive web applications primarily using ReactJS.
Create and support backend APIs and services with Node.js.
Collaborate with teams working on Java-based banking-as-a-service integrations.
Engage in code reviews, testing, debugging, and deployment processes.
Work closely alongside product owners, UI/UX designers, and fellow developers to deliver high-quality software solutions.
Participate actively in technical discussions and drive continuous improvement.
Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code adhering to best engineering practices.
Support Agile workflows including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
Proactively troubleshoot and enhance technical skills within a fast-paced environment.

Required Qualifications

Between 1 to 3 years of professional or internship experience in software development.
Strong grasp of JavaScript and modern web development principles.
Experience building applications with ReactJS.
Know-how in backend development using Node.js.
Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and client-server models.
Familiarity with Git version control systems.
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Quick learner adaptable to evolving workflows.
Positive attitude, reliability, and eagerness to contribute to team dynamics.

Desirable Competencies

Knowledge of Single-SPA or Micro Frontend architectures.
Experience with Redux state management.
Familiarity with Java programming.
Exposure to tools such as Confluence, Figma, Bitbucket, Jira.
Understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps practices.
