Role Summary
The Junior Quantitative Developer will join our Quantitative Research & Development team based in New York City, primarily supporting the West Power Trading and Carbon desks. This entry-level position reports to the Lead Quantitative Developer in Stamford, CT. The role involves close collaboration with traders, analysts, and quantitative researchers to develop, maintain, and optimize quantitative tools and models that drive decision-making in North American power and environmental markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with quant researchers to deploy, optimize, and maintain machine learning models used by trading and analytical teams.
- Enhance and manage cloud-based infrastructure for prototyping and testing new quantitative models.
- Automate trading and operational workflows to increase efficiency and system reliability.
- Continuously monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure smooth trading operations.
- Engage with cross-functional teams across New York, Stamford, and Houston in a dynamic trading environment.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicant will be a technically adept, inquisitive problem solver with a strong foundation in STEM and an interest in commodity markets. Mandatory Qualifications and Skills
- A bachelor's degree in a STEM or related quantitative field from a renowned institution.
- Two to four years of practical work experience.
- Proficiency in Python, including libraries such as pandas, numpy, plotly, and Jupyter notebooks.
- Strong grasp of algorithms, data structures, and software engineering principles.
- Experience with object-oriented design and programming.
- Knowledge in probability, statistics, linear algebra, and numerical analysis.
- Dashboard development experience using frameworks like Dash.
- Competency in SQL and handling large datasets.
- Highly analytical with meticulous attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills for working across technical and commercial teams.
- A proactive attitude with a keen sense of ownership and process improvement.
Preferable Additional Qualifications
- Advanced degrees (bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D.) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Physics from top-tier schools.
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), including microservices, stateless architecture, containers, event-driven triggers, queues, and stream processing.
- Experience with time series data analysis, forecasting, and optimization techniques.
- Knowledge of AI-driven data retrieval and processing workflows.
- Background or interest in energy, commodity, or financial markets.
- Understanding of power and emissions markets or energy systems.

- Annual base salary ranging between $150,000 and $180,000 USD.
