Junior Business Analyst

Role Overview

This position is for a Junior Business Analyst who will play a vital role supporting business analysis and project coordination, particularly within utility technology and digital transformation efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect, document, and analyze both business and technical requirements thoroughly.
• Assist project managers in coordinating project tasks, timelines, and key deliverables efficiently.
• Develop and upkeep user stories, workflow diagrams, and diagrams of business processes.
• Facilitate meetings and status updates, ensuring smooth communication between technical experts and business stakeholders.
• Support digital transformation initiatives such as implementing enterprise repositories and mapping systems.
• Manage backlog tracking using Azure DevOps or similar project management tools.
• Assist with testing activities including user acceptance testing and tracking issues.
• Contribute to operational reports, validate data, and assist with enhancing business processes.
• Create presentations, reports, standard operating procedures, and training documents targeted at both business teams and leadership levels.
• Prepare workflow and technical documentation using tools like Visio.
• Communicate professionally across technical teams, management, and end users to ensure clarity and alignment.
• Assist in data migration and validation processes and help automate tasks using Python, SQL, or Oracle technologies.
• Maintain organized enterprise data repositories and participate in technological implementation and process improvements.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree completed or in progress in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Engineering, or similar disciplines.
• Prior internship or cooperative education experience within a utility company is advantageous.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and capacity for self-management.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio.
• Experience with Azure DevOps is preferred.
• Ability to handle multiple assignments and meet deadlines consistently.
• A proactive, accountable team player with the initiative to contribute effectively.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with Python programming, SQL querying, Oracle database management, and Figma design tool.
• Experience coordinating quality assurance and user acceptance testing phases.
• Exposure to GIS technology, utility-specific mapping systems, or relevant applications.
• Participation in digital transformation or operational efficiency projects.
• Ability to author and interpret SQL queries and scripts.
• Knowledge of ArcGIS, ArcFM, PowerBI, and Azure cloud or data services.
