Housekeeper (Evening)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Housekeeper to join Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust's evening team. This role involves maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming hospital environment that supports patient care and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, spot cleaning, and floor buffing using equipment as needed.
• Dusting all surfaces including skirting boards, window ledges, curtain rails, notice boards, picture frames, furniture, and doors.
• Carpet care including daily spot removal and shampooing under supervisor guidance.
• Collect, tag, segregate, and dispose of all rubbish, clinical waste, sharps, and recyclable materials according to Trust policies.
• Replenish consumables such as paper towels, toilet rolls, hand soap, creams, and gels while ensuring containers are clean.
• Clean and sanitise baths, showers, basins, lavatories, and polish chromium fittings.
• Clean mirrors, glass, light switches, electrical sockets, and walls; assist with curtain changing as required.
• Maintain and store cleaning equipment hygienically; report any faulty equipment promptly.
• Assist with patient food service including breakfast preparation, serving drinks, collecting dishware, and managing patient menus when ward host is absent.
• Follow infection control procedures particularly in infected rooms.
• Undertake any reasonable tasks directed by supervisors or managers.

Person Specification

• Basic education demonstrating literacy, numeracy, and comprehension.
• Experience in housekeeping preferred but not essential; customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of COSHH procedures and hygiene standards a plus.
• Ability to manage time effectively, work independently, and engage professionally with staff and the public.
• Desirable qualifications include NVQ Level 1 and basic food hygiene certification.

This role is within the Estates and Facilities department where the housekeeping team forms an essential part of hospital services ensuring all wards maintain high cleanliness. Flexibility in working patterns is encouraged to meet service needs and promote work-life balance. This position requires the right to work in the UK, as Skilled Worker visa sponsorship is not available.
