Role overview
The Hardiman Hotel is looking for an experienced receptionist to join its Front of House team in Galway. Key responsibilities
- Welcome arriving guests in a courteous, polished, and friendly way.
- Manage guest check-ins and check-outs efficiently while following hotel standard operating procedures and using the Opera reservation system.
- Share information about the hotel’s services and facilities with guests as needed.
- Handle guest complaints professionally and escalate issues to management when appropriate.
- Respond promptly to guest requests, questions, and suggestions.
- Make sure guest needs and expectations are met throughout their stay.
- Process reservations and keep all booking changes accurately updated in the hotel system.
- Promote hotel facilities and actively support upselling opportunities.
- Answer calls through the switchboard in a warm and professional manner, route them correctly, and record detailed messages when required.
- Ensure billing is accurate and completed in line with hotel procedures.
- Learn and follow all reception-related processes and duties.
- Comply with hotel policies covering customer care, health and safety, fire safety, and security.
- Provide support to other hotel departments when needed.
- Stay organised, manage multiple tasks, and prioritise effectively.
- Build enough local knowledge to confidently guide and advise guests about the surrounding area.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of experience in hospitality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Fluent written and spoken English.
- Experience with Opera PMS is preferred.
- Comfortable using the internet, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word.
