Job description
Role Overview
The Hospitality Support Worker will contribute to Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Hospitality and Tourism programs at the Prince Albert Campus. This position entails a variety of service and food preparation tasks to maintain high standards of customer experience and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver customer service and operate cash registers efficiently using diverse payment systems, including completing end-of-day procedures.
- Assist with preparing both hot and cold food items, strictly following Food Safe standards at every step.
- Coordinate effectively with programming teams to prepare cold kitchen items ensuring smooth customer service.
- Execute service in multiple formats such as banquets, quick service, counter or table service, and perform bartending duties during events.
- Adhere to service guidelines including portion control requirements.
- Label products for sale accurately and maintain current menu information and pricing.
- Manage inventory by restocking and organizing cash till floats and change orders as needed.
- Respond professionally to customer inquiries and assist with receiving and distributing food and supply deliveries.
- Support banquet setups, service, teardown, general cleaning, and complete washing duties.
- Contribute as an accountable team member, ensuring clear and effective communication at all times.
- Participate in promotional activities and perform other duties assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of high school diploma or an equivalent 12 years of formal education.
- A minimum of two years’ experience in a food service environment.
- Certification in Food Safe Level 1.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with professional and effective communication abilities.
- Ability to independently manage minor workplace issues encountered during daily operations.
- Familiarity with multiple service styles such as counter, table, banquet service, and bartending with multitasking capability.
- Basic knowledge of point-of-sale systems, including Moneris devices handling multiple billing and payment methods.
- Competence operating commercial kitchen equipment and safely handling cleaning chemicals used in food preparation areas.
- Bondability as a requirement for the position.
- Computer literacy including experience with food service software for labeling, online orders, scheduling, and timesheets.
- Awareness of product ingredients relevant to the menu items.
Additional Information
The position is a part-time role of 36 regulated hours per week (0.40 Full-Time Equivalent) and is classified as Band 2 within the Professional Services bargaining unit. Temporary duration from August 17, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Salary ranges between $20.53 and $24.53 per hour.
