Hospital Housekeeping Supervisor

Job Overview

The Hospital Housekeeping Supervisor oversees the housekeeping team within the hospital, ensuring that all areas maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. This role emphasizes compliance with infection control protocols and hospital policies to deliver exceptional housekeeping services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate daily duties of housekeeping staff.
• Create and monitor duty rosters, shift schedules, and task assignments.
• Ensure cleaning and disinfection of patient rooms, operating theaters, ICUs, wards, corridors, washrooms, and common spaces align with hospital protocols.
• Supervise adherence to infection prevention and control (IPC) guidelines.
• Perform regular quality inspections of housekeeping activities.
• Oversee correct handling, storage, and use of cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment.
• Train staff on cleaning methods, safety measures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and waste disposal.
• Monitor segregation, collection, and proper disposal of biomedical waste complying with relevant regulations.
• Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, submitting requisitions as needed.
• Report equipment malfunctions and arrange repairs or replacements promptly.
• Ensure staff comply with grooming, attendance, discipline, and hospital policy standards.
• Collaborate with nursing, administrative, engineering, infection control, and other departments to meet housekeeping needs.
• Manage complaints regarding housekeeping services and guarantee prompt resolution.
• Keep detailed records including inspection reports, attendance logs, checklists, and daily activity summaries.
• Promote occupational health and safety compliance within the housekeeping team.
• Participate in hospital audits, accreditation processes such as NABH, and quality improvement efforts.
• Respond rapidly to emergency cleaning situations, including spill management and outbreak control.
