Role Overview
The Head of Engineering & Technology role is a pivotal leadership position responsible for directing technology strategy, architectural decisions, engineering delivery, and infrastructure maintenance across the full Jim2 software suite and its integrations, including cloud and internal IT systems on Microsoft Azure.
This position demands driving a comprehensive modernization of a 25-year-old ERP platform, transitioning to modern architecture and integrating agentic AI into both product development and the engineering process, ensuring long-term customer retention and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technology direction, architecture, and infrastructure for Jim2 Business Engine, Jim2Commerce, Jim2 Cloud, Jim2 Mobile, and associated integrations.
- Manage a team of approximately 15 professionals through team leaders, providing technical oversight and prototyping as needed.
- Embed agentic AI deeply into product development and engineering workflows as a standard practice.
- Represent technology interests at board level as a Senior Management Team member.
- Drive modernization initiatives that balance innovation with pragmatism to unlock new revenue opportunities and enhance customer experience.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven architectural expertise in legacy system migration, cloud infrastructure, API design, and contemporary application frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, .NET, C#, SQL Server, and familiarity with legacy Delphi or similar codebases, plus web platforms like nopCommerce and ASP.NET.
- In-depth knowledge of ERP system architecture including hosted and multi-tenant models, and the challenges in evolving mature software.
- Practical background in integrating AI tools into software development cycles, including AI-assisted coding, automated testing, and documentation.
- Understanding of large language model-based (LLM) features, managed cloud platform integrations, agentic AI workflows, and governance with measurable accountability.
