Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Role overview

Benmax is seeking a Mechanical Engineering graduate or an early-career engineer with under five years of experience to join its Sydney office. This is a full-time, permanent onsite position where you will contribute to real project work from the outset and develop your skills with close support from experienced team members.

What you will work on

You will support commercial and industrial HVAC projects, including work that has received industry recognition. The role is designed for someone who wants hands-on exposure, clear guidance, and steady development rather than being left to manage everything alone.

Working arrangement

The position is based onsite in Sydney and follows a Monday to Friday schedule. Benmax places strong emphasis on learning through collaboration, so you will work alongside senior engineers and project managers who are available to coach and review your work.

Key duties

• Carry out engineering calculations, prepare concept layouts, and help with equipment selection
• Assist with planning, budgeting, project documentation, and quality assurance tasks
• Use industry codes and standards with support as you build confidence
• Work with suppliers and subcontractors, including assessing options and supporting purchasing activities
• Use Procore and similar tools to track workflows and prepare reporting

Essential requirements

• Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering, or a Diploma of Engineering in Technical/Mechanical
• Recent graduate or early-career professional with 0 to 5 years of experience
• Ability to obtain an AGSVA security clearance

Preferred background

• Previous exposure to engineering or construction projects
• Familiarity with tools such as Python, Camel, or Procore
• Progress toward Engineers Australia Chartered status
