Role Overview
The GCP Cloud Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform. The role requires developing scalable, secure, and reliable cloud environments, handling container orchestration with Kubernetes, managing network configurations and security, as well as collaborating with development and operations teams to facilitate smooth application deployments.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Architect and administer cloud infrastructure leveraging Google Cloud Platform services.
- Build and maintain highly available and scalable cloud environments.
- Deploy and manage containerized applications using Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
- Configure and oversee GCP networking components such as VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, Cloud NAT, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Implement and manage IAM policies, service accounts, and workload identities according to security best practices.
- Use Terraform and other Infrastructure as Code techniques to provision and manage cloud resources.
- Work closely with development and DevOps teams to support application deployment and infrastructure needs.
- Monitor cloud resources, troubleshoot infrastructure-related problems, and optimize performance and cost efficiency.
- Apply cloud security, compliance measures, backup strategies, and disaster recovery plans.
- Support production environments by performing root cause analyses and resolving infrastructure incidents.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 5 years of practical experience managing Google Cloud Platform infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in designing and operating cloud environments on GCP.
- Hands-on skills with Google Kubernetes Engine and Kubernetes administration.
- Strong understanding of GCP IAM, service accounts, workload identity, and security best practices.
- Experience managing GCP networking elements including VPC, Shared VPC, firewall rules, Cloud NAT, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Proficiency in Terraform or comparable Infrastructure as Code tools.
- Familiarity with cloud monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting processes.
- Basic knowledge of CI/CD workflows and cloud deployment practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Google Cloud certifications like Associate Cloud Engineer or Professional Cloud Architect.
- Experience supporting production cloud environments.
- Knowledge of cloud monitoring and logging solutions.
- Experience working within Agile and DevOps frameworks.
