About Food Lion
Since 1957, Food Lion has delivered a fresh, affordable, and convenient shopping experience, serving over 10 million customers weekly across 10 states in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions with a workforce of 82,000 associates.
Primary Purpose
The role focuses on delivering high-quality customer service within the store, upholding standards as per the standard practice manual, driving sales through excellent service, and reducing losses by effectively applying established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Create an environment promoting enthusiastic customer engagement by delivering fast, friendly, and accurate service to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Maintain courteous and helpful interactions with fellow employees.
- Ensure all promotional and advertising materials are properly deployed and displayed.
- Update and replace price tags for items undergoing price changes across all departments.
- Verify accuracy by scanning products or tags after price adjustments.
- Manage and maintain signage during price update processes.
- Correct tags that do not reflect transmitted price changes properly.
- Remove tags and hang closeouts for discontinued items.
- Verify prices and tags for approximately 1000 store items each week using a wireless handheld device and rectify discrepancies as directed by the Customer Support Center.
- Order and maintain stock of warehouse and direct store delivery (DSD) replacement shelf tags.
- Ensure tags for new items are created and products scan correctly at checkout.
- Communicate any price transmission errors or unrecognized items to the Customer Support Center via Voice of Retail system.
- Strictly adhere to company policies, standard procedures, food safety, and workplace safety guidelines.
- Identify and resolve unsafe conditions to prevent accidents involving associates or customers.
- Report all associate and customer accidents promptly following Food Lion protocols.
- Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Maintain a neat appearance by wearing the Food Lion uniform and name badge during shifts according to dress code standards.
- Complete required Computer Based Training (CBT), Training Packets, and Training Aids successfully.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of high school or equivalent is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
- Willingness and capability to learn multiple tasks and technical aspects related to the position.
- Ability to use technical data and information to effectively address problems.
- Must meet age requirements stipulated for specific job functions.
- Physical capability to fulfill job demands with or without reasonable accommodations.
Physical Demands
- Proficiency in using computers and communication systems essential for job tasks.
- Frequent repetitive hand and arm movements.
- Ability to bend and lift products weighing up to 15 pounds continuously; 25 pounds frequently; and 50 pounds occasionally.
- Occasional pushing or pulling up to 75 pounds.
- Standing continuously during shifts with frequent short-distance walking.
- Handling various substances related to cleaning, packaging, fresh produce, plants, and household cleaners.
- Regular handling of currency and operation of equipment including cash registers, scanners, and calculators.
- Frequent reaching and grasping at waist level, sometimes above shoulder or below waist level.
- Meeting established work volume standards.
- Tolerance to work in extreme temperature conditions for short periods.
- Sufficient vision for inspecting identification, invoices, and other documents.
