About the Role
Join a reputed African financial group with a century-long history and regional expertise by contributing as a Fixed Income Trader within the Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) Global Markets division based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. This mid-level position reports to the Head of Trading and requires a self-driven, methodical approach to delivering market solutions while working in harmony with diverse banking teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute trades involving government and corporate bonds, money market instruments, and other debt securities, adhering to approved strategies and risk parameters.
- Efficiently manage inventory and optimize portfolio returns alongside adequate liquidity maintenance.
- Analyze market trends including yield curves, interest rate movements, and macroeconomic factors to identify lucrative trading opportunities.
- Provide accurate pricing, quotations, and secure execution of trades for both internal teams and external clients.
- Oversee trade capture, confirmation, settlement, and reconciliation processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Monitor portfolio results against benchmarks and client objectives; suggest rebalancing actions when appropriate.
- Support investment strategy execution and asset allocation decisions focused on optimizing risk-adjusted returns.
- Engage proactively with institutional, corporate, and high-net-worth clients to grasp their investment needs, provide market insights, and sustain strong relationships.
- Conduct detailed market research and analysis covering fixed income markets, monetary policies, competitor activities, economic trends, and emerging opportunities.
- Prepare market commentary and trading advice for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure strict adherence to risk management policies covering market, liquidity, credit, and operational risks while escalating any unusual activities or breaches promptly.
- Maintain compliance with internal governance policies, regulatory requirements, and complete accurate valuation and transaction documentation.
- Collaborate extensively with teams across relationship management, treasury, operations, compliance, risk, and finance to support business growth and innovation.
- Maintain strong partnerships with brokers, counterparties, custodians, and market participants.
- Uphold all regulatory responsibilities through compliance with trading standards, comprehensive record keeping, and support for audits and reviews.

Educational Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies is required.
