Job description
Role Overview
We are looking for a meticulous and analytical Finance Assistant / Accounts Executive to support daily finance and accounting operations. This essential position demands precise maintenance of financial records and active involvement in month-end closings, facilitating smooth transactional accounting processes throughout the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Work in collaboration with Finance Managers, Senior Accountants, Procurement, and Payroll teams.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processing, verifying vendor invoices and client billing statements.
- Enter journal entries into the general ledger and investigate discrepancies in accounts.
- Conduct routine bank and vendor statement reconciliations, balance sheet account reviews, and ledger audits.
- Assist in compiling data for internal reports and external audit preparation.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and maintain confidentiality in financial operations.
Candidate Qualifications
- Possession of a Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related discipline.
- Progress toward professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or AAT is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping, ledger management, accruals, prepayments, accounts payable/receivable, and basic tax concepts like VAT or GST.
- Experience using contemporary cloud accounting or ERP systems including QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, SAP, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
- Strong skills in bank reconciliations, verifying vendor statements, and conducting ledger accuracy checks.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel functions (VLOOKUP, XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS, logical formulas) for financial data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with audit processes, statutory documentation preparation, and maintaining digital audit trails.
- Exceptional numerical and analytical skills to identify and resolve variances efficiently.
- Effective communication abilities for professional interaction with vendors, clients, and internal personnel.
- Exemplary integrity, discretion, and time management to meet reporting deadlines alongside a commitment to ongoing professional development.
