Facility Maintenance Helper

About the Role

The Facility Maintenance Helper supports the upkeep and repair of various U-Haul facilities, including Moving Centers and Storage Centers across the assigned region.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize various hand and power tools effectively.
• Carry out general facility maintenance tasks such as installation, repair, and servicing.
• Perform tasks involving nailing, sawing, cutting, painting, and other basic maintenance activities.
• Ensure cleanliness at renovation and work sites.
• Complete all maintenance requests promptly and professionally.
• Assist experienced technicians in their duties as required.
• Engage in ongoing training through U-Haul University for continuous upskilling.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Possess a valid driver’s license with the ability to maintain a clean driving record necessary for operating commercial motor vehicles.
• Comply with all relevant local, provincial, and federal vehicle regulations while driving.
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalent educational certification.

Working Conditions

The position involves moderate risks requiring adherence to safety protocols, such as working near moving machinery and exposure to fumes or irritants. Use of protective gear like masks, goggles, gloves, or shields may be mandatory.

Physical Requirements

This role demands physical stamina including prolonged standing or walking, frequent bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, and lifting loads up to 50 pounds independently or with assistance.
