About the Virginia Guesthouse

Scheduled to open in April 2026, the Virginia Guesthouse will feature 214 rooms and 25,000 sq ft of conference and event space, situated on the University of Virginia Grounds. Immersed in the local WAHOO culture, this hotel will offer an energetic and inspiring venue for guests, conference attendees, faculty, and students.

Position Overview

We seek a motivated and detail-focused Facilities Technician to join our team. Your responsibilities will include performing various maintenance trades such as installing, repairing, and maintaining equipment, HVAC systems, painting, wall repair, tile work, and managing the hotel's preventative maintenance program. Collaboration with diverse team members requires agility and a positive, engaging demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute repairs and general upkeep of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
• Troubleshoot and fix electrical components including appliances, receptacles, switches, lighting, and motors operating on line and control voltage.
• Repair plumbing fixtures, piping, drains, and sanitary installations.
• Perform maintenance on woodwork, wall coverings, doors, windows, flooring, and related fixtures.

Candidate Profile

• Experience in maintenance roles within hotel or resort environments.
• Proficient knowledge of common repairs including carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing.
• Friendly and approachable personality with strong communication skills.
• High attention to detail and ability to work effectively under pressure in fast-paced settings.
• Committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
• Flexible availability including weekends and holidays.
• Physical capability to walk, stand, crouch, bend, reach, push, and pull during shifts, and lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation

Offered hourly wages range from $27.00 to $28.00, subject to factors such as skill level, experience, certifications, and location-based labor costs.
