Role Overview
The Exhibition Director (ED) plays a crucial leadership role with responsibility for steering the event's long-term growth and commercial achievements. This position demands shaping future strategic directions and ensuring impeccable execution standards across all event operations.
Primary Duties
- Promote a positive, collaborative workplace culture that energizes and values team members.
- Serve as a key representative for the event, maintaining strong partnerships with clients, government officials, industry groups, and suppliers.
- Cooperate closely with the Commercial Director to keep sales teams motivated and aligned with commercial goals.
- Develop and sustain effective collaborations within Tahaluf and Informa Markets.
- Partner with EVP and AVP leadership to coordinate portfolio strategies, financial management, budgeting, forecasting, and brand expansion worldwide.
- Craft and execute a continuous strategic plan to enhance growth and event success.
- Ensure the exhibition remains a sector leader by boosting market share, brand visibility, and delivering customer value.
- Manage the event’s budgets and quarterly financial forecasts to hit revenue and profitability goals.
- Define the event's positioning, adapting to evolving industry requirements and audience expectations.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of industry trends and competitor activities to inform strategic decisions.
- Create an empowering environment where employees are supported, valued, and motivated.
- Lead employee development through coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback.
Qualifications and Experience
- At least five years in leadership roles managing large-scale B2B exhibitions with strong commercial success.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven leadership experience with full responsibility for commercial and operational success.
- Skilled in formulating and implementing strategic growth plans.
- Strong financial literacy encompassing reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and profit management.
- Top-notch communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Excellent networking skills to establish and nurture lasting client and partner relationships.
- A collaborative approach to leadership and cross-functional teamwork.
- Ability to interpret market shifts, industry regulations, and political developments to generate business opportunities.
- Innovative mindset to apply market insights into compelling event content and new product developments.
- Excellent understanding of customer needs to craft commercially viable solutions.
- Flexibility and resilience in a dynamic, fast-moving work environment.
- Proven capacity to motivate and lead teams to high performance.
- Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) is strongly preferred for better engagement with regional stakeholders.
Desired Additional Experience
- If possible, prior work experience within the Middle East region.
- Background in safety, security, fire protection, emergency management, or chemical resilience sectors is a bonus.
