Opportunity
Alberta Health Services is seeking a reliable, safety-focused, and motivated Environmental Services Cleaner/Housekeeper for a temporary full-time role at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. In this role, you will help maintain a clean, disinfected, and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff across healthcare spaces.
The work includes routine and isolation cleaning, disinfecting patient rooms and clinical areas, maintaining floors, handling assigned medical equipment, and completing manual material handling tasks each day. You may also be assigned non-routine and deep-cleaning duties, and the role requires comfort working with powered industrial cleaning equipment in an active hospital setting.
What you will do
You will carry out a range of cleaning and disinfection tasks in both clinical and non-clinical areas. Typical work can involve sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, replenishing bathroom supplies, stripping linen, making beds, operating industrial floor-cleaning equipment, washing ceilings and windows, removing hazardous waste, and restocking cleaning materials and linens.
You will also be expected to notice and report safety concerns or hazards to your Working Leader, and you may be asked to help train or orient new Environmental Services or Laundry team members.

Working conditions
This position involves regular interaction with patients, clients, staff, and visitors while working in occupied healthcare environments. It also requires the use of chemical cleaners and powered industrial equipment, along with repeated physical activity throughout the shift.
Training and notes
All new hires must complete a 4-day Environmental Services Orientation and a 1-day AHS Orientation. Candidates should include enough detail in their resume to show how they meet the required and preferred qualifications. A combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered.
Qualifications and preferred background
Applicants should meet the required physical, communication, and technical expectations for the role. Previous hospital or institutional environmental cleaning experience, customer service experience, WHMIS knowledge, ergonomics and workplace health and safety training, and experience with industrial cleaning equipment or floor refinishing are all considered advantageous.
Compensation
This is a paid temporary role with hourly pay ranging from $22.58 to $24.68.
