Environmental Coordinator

Overview

We are looking for a dedicated Environmental Coordinator to join our HSEC team at Glencore Canada, based in Toronto. In this position, you will contribute to advancing sustainable practices, minimizing environmental impacts, and safeguarding people and communities. You will collaborate with operations across North American Legacy Assets to implement health, safety, environment, and community (HSEC) initiatives, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure adherence to relevant environmental legislation, permits, licenses, and Glencore's HSEC policies and standards.
• Support environmental audits and risk assessments within Legacy Assets.
• Plan and deliver environmental training and assess training needs for site teams.
• Assist in environmental sampling programs covering water quality, soil, and waste management.
• Maintain environmental monitoring databases and prepare detailed technical reports for internal and regulatory purposes.
• Contribute to the preparation of environmental compliance documentation.
• Investigate environmental incidents, identify root causes, and manage corrective and preventive actions.
• Support management of environmental reclamation and biodiversity initiatives.
• Collaborate with project and risk assessment teams within Legacy Assets.
• Keep environmental records, permits, and documentation organized and up-to-date.
• Participate in emergency response efforts related to environmental incidents such as spills or releases.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a post-secondary degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Chemistry, Earth Sciences, or Geoscience.
• Possesses 3 to 5 years of relevant environmental experience, preferably within mining, heavy industry, or environmental consulting.
• Familiar with environmental legislation and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Experienced in environmental monitoring and sampling methods.
• Strong written communication and analytical skills with the ability to consolidate complex information effectively.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; familiarity with GIS and environmental data management software advantageous.
• Well-organized and adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Can work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Holds a valid driver's license.

Additional Details

Travel requirement: Approximately 30% travel to sites across Canada and the USA.
Language skills: Advanced English proficiency required; knowledge of French is a plus.
Office location: Corporate office in Toronto, primarily onsite five days per week when not travelling.
Salary range: CAD 76,000 to 105,000 annually depending on skills and qualifications, with eligibility for a variable bonus plan (subject to plan terms and not guaranteed).
