About Kojo
Kojo is revolutionizing the commercial construction industry by simplifying how companies purchase materials, which make up a significant portion of construction costs. Established in 2018, Kojo is among the fastest growing construction technology firms globally, tackling a $10 trillion annual market. The construction sector has seen little innovation in decades, and Kojo is seizing this opportunity to transform material procurement for commercial builders.
Role Overview
As an Enterprise Sales Development Representative (SDR), you will spearhead outbound pipeline creation targeting commercial contractors with annual construction volumes exceeding $75 million. Acting as the initial point of contact, your outreach will introduce these contractors to Kojo’s unique value proposition. Your efforts will directly influence company growth and deepen market insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage outbound prospecting, averaging around 100 cold calls daily, targeting enterprise commercial construction firms, accurately identifying accounts and key contacts, and engaging with personalized communication rather than scripted pitches.
- Generate qualified opportunities for Account Executives by scheduling discovery meetings with prospects who face tangible challenges Kojo can address.
- Leverage advanced sales tools such as AI-driven sequencing, data enrichment, and call intelligence technologies to enhance prospecting effectiveness and focus on quality engagements.
- Continuously refine outbound strategies by assessing what messaging resonates or fails, sharing insights to optimize sales and marketing approaches.
- Consistently surpass monthly targets for meetings and sales-accepted opportunities, treating your sales pipeline as a crucial business metric.
- Develop deep expertise in the commercial construction industry, understanding key players, procurement dynamics, challenges, and indicators of client needs.
Candidate Profile
You are in the early stages of a sales career but approach your work with ownership and curiosity about the construction sector. You value precision in your sales approach and embrace AI and automation as tools to enhance, not replace, human interaction. You seek to grow your enterprise sales skills within a traditionally underserved market.
Qualifications and Experience
- Proven track record making over 50 cold calls daily in a previous Sales Development or Business Development role, supported by call metrics and meeting conversion data.
- Experience creating or significantly improving outbound email sequences that outperform standard templates, with an ability to explain the rationale behind successful approaches.
- Strong discovery skills, able to distinguish valuable probing questions from perfunctory ones.
- Demonstrated ability to rapidly act on feedback and improve performance within days.
- Quick adaptation to complex products or industries, becoming a credible expert swiftly.
- Preference given to those with prior exposure to construction or specialty trades industries.
Values and Traits
- Customer Focus: Prioritize understanding contractor challenges and qualifying viable opportunities beyond just scheduling meetings.
- Growth Mindset: Treat setbacks and feedback as learning occasions to sharpen skills.
- Accountability: Manage your sales pipeline with founder-like dedication and urgency.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary ranges from $55,000 to $70,000 annually, dependent on experience and qualifications. Full-time US employees are eligible for equity grants and a comprehensive benefits package. The role is fully remote with work hours aligned to your local business hours.
Diversity and Inclusion
Kojo is committed to diversity and inclusion, promoting equal opportunity regardless of gender, race, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or veteran status. The company encourages applications from underrepresented groups and follows fair chance hiring practices.
Important Notice
Applicants should beware of fraudulent recruitment attempts pretending to represent Kojo. The company will never request sensitive personal financial information during hiring.
