Overview
The EHS Engineer role involves ensuring workplace safety and environmental compliance through a variety of monitoring, assessment, and training activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting regular inspections of machinery, material handling devices, lifting equipment, personal protective equipment (PPE), and fall prevention systems to ensure safety standards are met.
- Monitoring the fulfillment of all legal and regulatory requirements related to environment, health, and safety at the operational level.
- Identifying workplace hazards and carrying out Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC) exercises.
- Performing analysis of environmental aspects and impacts to confirm adherence to environmental regulations.
- Taking part in safety communications such as toolbox talks, as well as delivering safety training and awareness initiatives.
- Providing assistance in the preparation, maintenance, and organization of EHS documentation, reporting, and legal records.
- Reporting incidents promptly and contributing to investigations by employing methods like Root Cause Analysis and the 5 Whys technique.
- Tracking and analyzing EHS performance indicators, including incident rates, occurrences of near misses, and compliance with training programs.
- Working collaboratively with supervisors and contractors to maintain compliance with established safety protocols.
- Supporting and coordinating emergency preparedness activities including drills and fire safety implementations.
