Job Overview

InterGroup is seeking a dependable and proactive Driver Operator to join the Wellington Infrastructure team. This role involves operating specialized sump cleaning trucks for the maintenance of stormwater drainage networks across the Wellington region. Beyond just driving, the position entails hands-on tasks such as setting up work zones, performing manual labor, and collaborating closely within a dedicated crew to ensure essential infrastructure upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Manage the safe and effective operation of specialized sump cleaning vehicles.
• Maintain and clean stormwater sumps, catch pits, and drainage infrastructure.
• Use vacuum and suction machinery integral to drainage maintenance.
• Perform manual tasks alongside vehicle operation including hose handling and debris clearance.
• Conduct daily inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure operational safety and readiness.
• Establish secure and compliant work sites adhering to traffic management protocols.
• Accurately complete job logs, maintenance records, and related documentation.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines at all times.

Candidate Profile

• Possession of a full Class 4 driver's licence.
• Prior experience with heavy vehicle operation or specialized equipment use.
• Good physical condition and willingness to engage in manual labor.
• A strong focus on safety and compliance.
• Dependability and a committed work ethic.
• Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.

Experience in drainage systems, civil infrastructure, or vacuum loading is advantageous but not mandatory.
