About the Role and Employer
Join an established Canadian financial services cooperative dedicated to fostering a sustainable and resilient society. The position operates primarily in English and offers a hybrid working model requiring two days onsite per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and review all documentation related to disability claims, including applications, medical reports, employment details, and coordination with other insurers such as WCB and motor vehicle carriers.
- Evaluate claims to determine rehabilitation potential and develop appropriate case management strategies.
- Conduct phone interviews with claimants and employers to gather comprehensive information before decisions.
- Manage claims proactively to reduce the length of disability periods and facilitate a successful return to work.
- Utilize available resources to ensure accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment plans.
- Monitor adherence to rehabilitation recommendations and participation in treatment interventions.
- Arrange independent evaluations such as medical exams, functional capacity testing, or surveillance when it is warranted.
- Maintain clear and ongoing communication—both written and verbal—with claimants, employers, healthcare providers, internal personnel, brokers, third-party administrators, lawyers, and other stakeholders like WCB and CPP.
Qualifications and Experience
- Post-secondary education in Kinesiology, Psychology, Disability Management, or a related field is preferred.
- Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) designation is an asset.
- Demonstrated 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience handling disability claims.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $60,574 to $100,956 annually, determined based on qualifications, experience, geography, and market conditions.
