Company Overview
Camunda specializes in enterprise platforms for agentic orchestration, helping organizations integrate AI agents, people, and systems across complex business processes with governance and oversight to scale AI safely. Trusted by over 700 clients globally, including 9 of the top 10 US banks, Camunda drives operational efficiencies and better customer experiences.
Operating fully remote worldwide, Camunda is transforming into an AI-first organization leveraging its own platform to automate intelligent processes and enhance human contributions.
About the Role
Camunda is assembling a new sub-division called Camunda Experience, which manages the experience layer atop the orchestration cluster API, including Camunda Hub, Clients/SDKs, AI-native builder experiences, frontend web apps, and business application integrations. This team uses a built-in AI-first approach combining product management, design, and engineering within small "Builder" pods for rapid development.
As Director, Product Building, you will lead approximately 25 team members including 3 Pod Leads, setting up the Builder model and delivering the first products such as an updated Camunda Hub and AI-native builder experience. Responsibilities encompass strategy formulation, organizational design, and owning AI-first production engineering to enable a cohesive, efficient product delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the Camunda Experience sub-division consisting of ~25 members across multiple Builder pods and oversee business outcomes of the experience layer.
- Establish and operate the Builder model including governance, rituals, quality standards, and forums to unify product, design, and engineering roles.
- Deliver initial Builder product releases such as a revamped Camunda Hub and AI-native builder experience with customer-visible iterative value.
- Design the organizational architecture and ownership boundaries to scale discovery, definition, implementation, and support effectively.
- Collaborate with strategy product managers to convert directional bets into tangible strategies and investments, feeding pod insights back into corporate strategy.
- Lead AI-first production line engineering, enforcing codebase standards, reusable agent contexts and skills, shared CI/CD platforms, and governance frameworks.
- Promote sustainable product maintenance and support by defining clear ownership, balancing feature work with product health, and securing long-term reliability as adoption grows.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of leadership experience managing complex, user-facing product domains, including managing managers and owning business outcomes. You should have demonstrated ability to design operational models including pod structures, governance, and quality standards, and have led teams shipping AI-first software as an execution model.
You demonstrate strong product design acumen, prioritize direct customer engagement for decision-making, contribute to strategy formation alongside leadership, and thrive in a remote, global, asynchronous setting.
Additional advantageous qualifications include experience with Product Builder or Design Engineer models, familiarity with developer tools, enterprise B2B platforms, low-code/pro-code products, BPMN, process orchestration, or Camunda 8, and experience leading AI-native transformations without compromising delivery momentum.
