Deputy / Assistant Manager, Bus Operations

Role overview

This position sits within the bus operations team and focuses on helping to keep public bus services safe, workable, and efficient. The role involves coordinating with both internal teams and outside stakeholders so that bus movements are protected when roads are affected and bus-priority measures can be put in place where suitable.

Key responsibilities

• Share input on planned roadworks and road diversion discussions along bus routes, and collaborate with relevant parties to make sure bus operations continue safely and are not negatively impacted.
• Examine existing bus route corridors and evaluate whether traffic-scheme improvements could better support bus priority and smoother bus movement.
• Assess whether bus trials are needed to confirm that new, amended, or higher-capacity bus routes can operate safely.
• Handle feedback, complaints, and suggestions from commuters, bus operators, and the public relating to bus route movements.

Requirements

• Good written, verbal, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams and collaborating across different stakeholders.
• Genuine interest in public transport planning and operations.
• Applicants may need to complete a medical declaration and/or take part in additional assessments during shortlisting.
