Database Administrator

Overview

The Database Administrator position focuses on maintaining the efficiency and reliability of the SQL server database environment daily. This role entails responding to database-related issues, pursuing ongoing enhancements, and adopting emerging technologies. The position requires handling sensitive and proprietary information, necessitating compliance with confidentiality and information security policies mandated by the company and law.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily administration of SQL Server databases within a clustered setup.
• Create documentation for complex installation, configuration, and optimization tasks to enable automation.
• Address user tickets, respond to inquiries, and resolve issues promptly.
• Implement proactive monitoring, trending, and tuning of SQL databases to optimize performance.
• Ensure reliable database backup processes and data recovery capabilities.
• Lead efforts to automate and innovate database administration procedures.
• Provide support to Data Architects and Developers as required.

Qualifications

• Legal eligibility to work in the Dominican Republic.
• Strong proficiency in reading and written English communication.
• Associate degree or equivalent relevant experience preferred.
• Minimum three years’ experience managing Microsoft SQL Server environments.
• Skilled in query analysis, performance tuning, and executing maintenance routines.
• Experience developing and maintaining stored procedures.
• Knowledge of database clustering technologies such as Failover Cluster Instances or Always On Availability Groups.
• Familiarity with fundamental Windows administration tasks.
• Required experience with Powershell or Python scripting.
• Experience in cloud or virtualized environments is advantageous but not mandatory.
• Coding experience is beneficial but not a requirement.
