Role Overview
The Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Engineer is responsible for creating, managing, and monitoring security policies aimed at preventing unauthorized access or leakage of sensitive information such as personal data or proprietary company files.
Key Responsibilities
- Configure DLP policies, troubleshoot issues, and execute necessary system upgrades.
- Monitor alerts generated by DLP systems, investigate potential data breach incidents, and coordinate incident response efforts.
- Fine-tune policies to minimize false positives and enhance detection accuracy.
- Implement rules that block, redact, or encrypt unauthorized data transfers across cloud applications, email systems, and endpoint devices.
- Ensure internal data management aligns with privacy regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA.
Qualifications and Skills
- Proven experience with leading DLP platforms, including Microsoft Purview, Symantec, Forcepoint, Netskope, or McAfee.
- Strong knowledge of data classification procedures, network protocols, and endpoint security technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities for effectively managing alert triage and reducing false alarms.
- A bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity or a related IT discipline is required, preferably supported by certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or Security+.
