Data Lead

Overview

We are seeking a forward-thinking Data Lead to direct the evolution of our organization's data capabilities. This role requires close work with leadership across departments to consolidate and clarify data requirements, developing a cohesive data strategy that spans the entire company. The position also entails the establishment of solid data governance and quality assurance frameworks, supported by empowering designated data stewards to maintain data accuracy, trustworthiness, and relevance. This is a pivotal role for advancing both data strategy and operational standards, positioning data as a key organizational asset.

Primary Duties

• Address complex, cross-departmental challenges by fostering collaboration between business and IT teams.
• Conceptualize and promote new ideas to enhance business processes or support strategic initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to corporate policies and applicable legal regulations.
• Develop comprehensive reports, procedural documentation, and instructional content.
• Prepare proposals, draft governance policies, and author project briefs.

Qualifications

• Possession of an NQF level 7 qualification such as a Bachelor's degree (e.g., BCom, BSc) in disciplines including Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields.
• Extensive expertise and deep comprehension in various specialized areas such as data strategies, governance frameworks, methodologies, and compliance.
• A minimum of 10 to 12 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 5 years in a senior leadership capacity.
